Korea University and HDC Hyundai Development Company  

Sign an MOU for Continuing Education and Youth Career Development in the Local Community
With the aim of realizing sustainable social values through discussions on the creation of human and material infrastructure

On Tuesday, May 21, at 2 PM, in the First Conference Room of the Main Hall, Korea University signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with HDC Hyundai Development Company (CEO Choi Ik-hoon) for continuing education and youth career development in the local community.

Through this MOU, Korea University and HDC Hyundai Development Company will discuss mutual cooperation on the creation of human and material infrastructure with the goal of realizing sustainable social values, such as the advancement of the education industry, youth career development, and talent cultivation, in alignment with demographic and social changes.

Korea University and HDC Hyundai Development Company plan to jointly develop generation-specific education and intergenerational exchange programs for approximately 3,000 local households, including those in the wellness residences, the construction of which is to commence in the second half of 2024 as part of HDC Hyundai Development Company’s Project H1. In addition, Korea University plans to develop various educational programs to improve the quality of life of residents in northeastern Seoul.

Moreover, the two organizations announced that, to assist in the career development of youth in the local community, they will conduct joint research on efficient infrastructure development and startup activation plans for (i) public dormitories and career centers for youths in public contribution facilities and (ii) shared offices within commercial office facilities. They also stated that they plan to cooperate in youth talent development by providing various field training opportunities for Korea University students.

Korea University President Kim Dong-one said, “Through this MOU, Korea University will more faithfully fulfill its social responsibility as a university contributing to both the community and the country while realizing its philosophy of creating a lifelong learning society. I hope that the two organizations will establish an exemplary industry–university cooperation model by building close communication and trust.”

In response, Choi Ik-hoon, CEO of HDC Hyundai Development Company, said, “We will propose new directions for future housing, provide richer life values, and strive to nurture young talent to contribute to enhancing industrial competitiveness through various meaningful exchanges with the local community.”
