KU π-Ville, a space for trial and error

KU designated March 14 as a π-Ville Day in order to publicize π-Ville to KU students and encourage participation.

 

 

Korea University introduced π-Ville last September as a dedicated space for students to create new knowledge in various fields, including culture, art, performance, volunteering, and start-ups. Twenty teams are currently working hard in π-Ville, a five-story building consisting of a total of 38 containers.  

 

 

KU prepared this event in order to increase students’ participation in π-Ville, where they can do whatever they want to, and keep improving themselves through trial and error, which deviates from standardized employment preparation and qualification obtainment. Through this event, KU is hoping to let students know that these seemingly useless activities are not wrong, but somewhat necessary to everyone.

π-Ville Day offers students the chance to attend lectures of people who are thinking outside the box in the real world, fairs (experiencing the activities of π-Ville teams), flea markets, decoration of eco bags, and exhibitions. In particular, in an exhibition titled Eonttanmattan (a shortened version of a Korean phrase of “You should be able to step outside the boundaries whenever you want to.”), stories of people who think outside the box, and a variety of works created by students in π-Ville are presented.

 

 

Any students wishing to participate in creative activities can apply for a room in KU π-Ville and, through a series of screenings, winning projects will be selected. Those selected can use a space for free for up to four months and are able to make use of mentoring services provided by KU professors, alumni entrepreneurs, and businessmen. In addition, students receive guidance in how to resolve difficulties that beginner entrepreneurs may experience. Advising services in the fields of investment, patents, accounting, and laws are also offered.
