Nurturing Skilled Social Sports Practitioners & Leaders
With the advent of the era of 20.000 dollar per capita income in Korea, the School of Sport and Leisure Studies was established to develop social welfare and preventive medicine aspect of sports and nurture leaders in social sports who can exert new leadership in the popularization of sports. It aims to equip students with balanced expertise in their major, outstanding sports skills, and a broad sense of adaptability and applicability and emphasizes a clear sense of purpose and responsibility. Moreover, it has designed a diverse curriculum for a holistic education to foster character and the qualities to become a professional sports leader: Courses such as Introduction to Social Sports, Coaching Theory, Plan and Operation of Programs, Leisure Education Theory cover the general areas of social sports.

Courses such as Anthropotomy, Physiological/Biomechanics, Sports Psychology, Sports Medicine, Training Theory and Nutritional Science cover the area of scientific concepts and application (for prescription of exercise). Students can choose their own career path from becoming a sports leader in the field to an administrative leader in areas such as management and administration. The School is establishing various advanced education programs to not only nurture insightful sports leaders but also to advance into areas such as prescription of exercise for people’s welfare, leisure industry and sports marketing, which is rapidly increasing in importance. It envisions the establishment of a social sports college to promote new sports leaders for advanced societies.
