Current that is changing the world—Biotechnology
Scientists around the globe share a common view that the bio industry is firmly establishing itself as the pivotal, sustainable industry of the 21st century. The College of Life Science and Biotechnology of Korea University is the most extensive Biotechnology College in Korea with 90 full-time professors, 1,400 undergraduate students, and 450 graduate students. Moreover, it is a hub that integrates the entire field of biotechnology at Korea University, and leads the enhancement of creative and future-oriented education, research, and industrialization through the convergence of BTㆍETㆍIT. |

The undergraduate college is the lead organization designated by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology as the「University Specialization Project」in the field of biotechnology, and the graduate school ‘Institute of Bioscience and Technology’ is spearheading the Korean biotechnology sector as the lead project organizer of the biotechnology field in the BK21 program. The College of Life Science and Biotechnology covers a wide range of areas such as animals, plants, microorganisms, biomedical sciences and engineering, environmental ecology, bio-food, and even economics and business administration of the life science industry.
It also has exchanges with outstanding US institutions such as MIT and NIH and continuously establishes internship programs with overseas businesses and corporate research institutes, while forming an organic network with Korea’s representative bio engineering companies such as LG Life Sciences, Green Cross, Dong A Pharmaceuticals, and CJ to promote biotechnological commercialization. |
